EFFECTS OF PROCESS PARAMETERS ON THE MICRO HARDNESS OF COMPOSITE COATINGS

Phan Quang The, Nguyen Dang Binh, Tran Minh Đuc, Ly Viet Anh

Thai Nguyen University of Technology - TNU

One of the solutions to enhance the wear resistance of the composite coatings layer is based on Nickel matrix. The research results of Ni-Al2O3and Ti-TiO2 showed that the micro-hardness of the composite coating depends considerably on mixing velocity, current density and the temperature of electrolyze. The variation of these parameters in electroplating process can produce the

composite coating with the micro-hardness increasing more than 2 times compared to normal Nicoating layer.

Ni-Al2O3 COMPOSITE COATINGS IS A TECHNICAL SOLUTIONTO ENHANCE THE WEAR RESISTANCE OF THE Ni COATING

Nguyen Dang Binh, Phan Quang The, Tran Minh Đuc

Thai Nguyen University of Technology - TNU

Al2O3 composite coatings refer to a surface advanced technology in enhancing the wear resistance of Niplating coatings in the environment of high wear and corrosion. The result of the study on the Ni-Al2O3 composite coatings was evident that the density of Al2O3 particles in Ni matrix depends considerably in the mixing method and the mixing velocity for the electrolyzing solution. Further, results revealed that the micro-hardness of the coating layer is approximately 1,8 times higher than that of the Ni normal electroplating layer. Hence, the current density is an important parameter affecting the quality of the coating layer.

MATHEMATCAL MODELING OF A METAL SHEET ROLLING SYSTEM

Bui Chinh Minh*

Thai Nguyen University of Technology - TNU

This paper developed a mathematical model of a single-stand cold rolling mill to be used in designing nonlinear control systems to improve the performance of the rolling system. The mathematical model describes the relationship between the input to the servo-valve of the hydraulic system and the strip thickness. Due to various friction forces, system stiffness, and force caused by eccentricity and characteristics of the hydraulic system, the model is highly nonlinear and contains uncertainties. The derived mathematical model is a set of differential equations, which can be used for developing nonlinear robust controllers and robust adaptive optimal controllers for rolling systems.

SIMULATION OF THE MICROSTRUCTURAL AND PHASE TRANSITION TO SIO2 LIQUID

Do Thi Van*, Dang Thi Uyen and Pham Huu Kien

College of Education - TNU

The molecular dynamic simulation has been used to study the micro-structural and phase transition

to SiO2 liquid containing 1998 (666 Si and 1332 O) atoms in cubic box with periodic boundary conditions, at 3200 K. The structural characteristics of the model were analyzed through partial radial distribution function, coordination number, and bond-angle distribution. The result of simulation shows that SiO2 liquid is composed of species SiO4, SiO5 and SiO6 units, which are linked by 1, 2 and 3 O bridge. As pressure increases, the fraction of SiO4 decreases, SiO6 increases and SiO5 appears to reach a maximum lied in range 12-15GPa and this pressure range occurs during the phase transition in SiO2 liquid as  observed during the experimental study.

Samples of multi-ferroic BaTi1-xFexO3 material (0.0 ≤ x ≤ 0.03) were synthesized by using the solid-state reaction method. The influence of Fe substitution for Ti on the crystalline structure and the magnetic property of BaTi1-xFexO3 samples were investigated. The obtained X-ray diffraction patterns showed that the structure of the material sensitively depends on Fe dopant content, x, and

which was transformed gradually from the tetragonal phase to the hexagonal one with increasing x. All of the samples exhibited both ferro electricity and ferromagnetism at room temperature. The substitution of Fe into Ti sites also changes the conductivity of the material and impurity (acceptor) levels in the band gap, which are evident from the absorption spectra, electric impedance measured at room temperature.

Nguyen Vu Thanh Thanh1, Chu Hoang Mau2*

1 Department of Genetics, Faculty of Life Science, College of Science-TNU

2 Department of Genetics and Modern Biology, Faculty of Bilogy and Agro-Technic, College of Education-TNU

Cystatins are inhibitors of cystein proteases belonging to papain family. In plants, cystatins are found to be involved in drought stress. This paper presents the findings about the genes encoding cystatins which are isolated from Vietnam mungbean cultivars (Vigna radiata L. Wilczek) under different levels of drought tolerance. Genomic DNA of four mungbean cultivars, including two with high drought tolerance (KP11 and KPS1) and two with low drought tolerance (MN93, 263) are  isolated for gene cloning using cystatin specific primers. The sequencing data of the four cloned cystatin gene fragments proved that cystatin gene gave  a length of 1115 nucleotides, which were divided into 2 exons and 1 intron. The PRF of coding regions of cystatin gene is comprised of 267 nucleotides with encoding polypeptide of 88 amino acids. The nucleotide sequences of the four cultivars showed variations in different sites although the amino acid sequences did not show differences to others, and also to the pronouncement under the code AF454396.

Possible regulatory differences were discussed in relation to the variations found in intron region. Nucleotide sequence of cystatin gene in the four mungbean cultivars (KP11, KPS1, MN93 and 263) have high levels of similarity (99.6% - 99.8%), without a change in the 2 exons, however, results showed there are 6 single nucleotide polymorphism located in the introns. On the comparison of the amino acid sequences of genes encoding cystatin in mungbean cultivars (KP11, KPS1, MN93, 263) with one mungbean cultivar on NCBI (AF454396), results showed that amino acid sequences was 100% homologous.

Based on the results obtained in this study, it is recommended that further research must be conducted on the active control of introns in regions where the mungbean cultivars live in drought.

Do Khac Uan (1,2), Mai Anh Khoa (3,*)

1 Hanoi University of Science and Technology

2 Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

3 Thai Nguyen University

Releasing phosphorus (TP) from wasted sludge plays an important role in phosphorus recovery for  fertilizer industry. This paper presents a study on TP released from wasted sludge using microwave engineering. The experiments were carried out at various temperatures (40, 60, 80, and

100oC) and treatment times (5, 10, 15, and 20 min). The obtained results showed that the proper conditions for TP release were 80oC and 10 min. At that condition, over 80% of TP was released from sludge. In addition, total nitrogen (TN) was also released during the microwave sludge treatment. The TN release rate also increased rapidly within the first 10 min, and reduced gradually thereafter. The release of organic carbon (as Chemical Oxygen Demand, COD) increased significantly when the treatment temperature and time were increased. The higher temperature resulted in more COD released. More specifically, sludge mass and its size also reduced significantly after the microwave treatment. The observations were consistent with the TP, TN and COD releasing profiles.

TEACHING EXTRACT "VĨNH BIỆT CỬU TRÙNG ĐÀI" - DRAMA "VŨNHƯ TÔ" NGUYEN HUY TUONG BY FEATURE CATEGORIES

Nguyen Thanh Lam*

Education and Training Department of Quang Ninh

Drama has quite different characteristics from other genres of literature. In fact, teaching drama genre at school is more difficult than other genres of literature. Most school teachers teach lessons based on guide books, not knowing how to select the basic knowledge which results to giving unsuitable lessons to students. In addition, some teachers are often craving for excessive knowledge, but not considering the theory of the genre, hence, the lesson does not serve the purpose and the interest of the students is not enhanced.

It must be noted on the  above mentioned reasons that made the  teaching drama genre at lower and senior schools not highly effective.

In teaching and designing lesson plans for the extract “Paying last respect to Cuu Trung Dai” and the Drama “Vu To Nhu” by Nguyen Huy Tuong are very effective means in  approaching  methodologies in teaching literature genres.

STUDENTS OF COLLEGE OF SCIENCES – THAI NGUYEN UNIVERSITY

Nguyen Thi Que*

College of Sciences - Thai Nguyen University

Communicative Approach refers to the beliefs and theories of the language teaching, which

emphasizes that the goal of language teaching is the development of communicative competence. This is quite a new

method of teaching English for teachers of Thai Nguyen University in general and of College of Sciences in particular. Therefore, this study sought to answer the question of whether Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) will improve the performance in English of selected

second year students of the College of Sciences, Thai Nguyen University in the first semester of Academic Year 2009-2010. Two groups of students were subjected to two different teaching methods, namely traditional method and CLT. Pre-test means scores showed no significant difference between the control and experimental groups while comparisons of the posttest

mean scores showed significant differences in achievement. It is therefore concluded that the use of various activities in CLT in teaching English helps motivate and enhance EFL students' learning and mastery of English communication.

ADOPTION AND ADAPTATION OF THE CONCEPT “TÂM” IN

VIETNAMESE BUDDHISM AND HOW IT IS REVEALED IN THE VIETNAMESE’S

MORAL LIFE

Ngo Thi Lan Anh*

College of Education- Thainguyen University

In Buddism, “Tâm” (heart) is an important aspect partly contributing to the value of buddhistic culture. When being introduced into Vietnam, “Tam” still remains almost all of its meanings.

Thanks to the available love for Buddhism, Vietnamese people highly respect the aspect of “Tam”.

Owning pure and warm hearts, the Vietnamese have led a plain, rustic and faithful life with a closely sentimental attachment. This helps much to build a cultural basis that is appropriate for social morals and leads the people to follow the good and to avoid the bad, which will bring a peaceful heart for everyone. Apart from the positive points, “Tam” on the process of being integrated in Vietnam inevitably contains the negative points that need to be solved appropriately.

NEW APPROACH IN GENERATING A COMPLETE DETECTOR

REPERTOIRE IN ARTIFICIAL IMMUNE SYSTEMS

Nguyen Van Truong1, Pham Dinh Lam2

1 College of Education – TNU; 2 Board of Information Technology - TNU

Generation of the Detector set is a key problem in Artificial Immune Systems (AIS) due to the cost of time and space. A weakness in many detector generating algorithms was the random generation of detectors so that many candidate detectors may be discarded. We present a novel data structure for extracting data from protected self set. That helps to produce all possible detectors, or a complete

detector repertoire, with lower time and space complexities as compared to recent novel approaches.

Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that our approach is effective and feasible.

These new valuable characteristics can make complex AIS have the highest ability to detect data changes and to reduce false detection.

This paper presents research results of Reactive Blue 19 (RB19) adsorption on iron ore and modified iron ore 10% MnO2. Experiments were carried out in with the following parameters:volume of adsorption materials: 0.25g; volume of dye solution: 25 ml; concentration: 98.66mg/l;pH=6; speed of mixer stirring: 300 revolutions/ minute; time to reach adsorption equilibrium was 7

hours in the room temperature. The results of experiments show that the manufacturing materials(modified iron ore) have much better adsorption capacity than raw materials (iron ore). These results open the way to use natural and various sources of mineral to treat industrial water waste containing dyes.

SYNTHESIS OF NANOSIZED β-MnO2 FOR ADSORPTION OF ARSENIC, IRON

AND MANGANESE

Luu Minh Dai1, Nguyen Thi To Loan2*

1Institute of Materials Science - VAST, 2College of Education - TNU

β-MnO2 powder has been synthesized at low temperature (1800C) by the combustion of gel prepared from polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), manganese nitrate and ammonia nitrate.

The crystalline process and the morphology of oxide particles were considered by X-Ray

diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy(TEM). Further thermal treatment at 150-1800C in 2h yields the single phase β-MnO2 with thesurface area by the BET (Brunauer- Emmett-Teller) 49,7 m2/g. β-MnO2 powders with crystallite

size 25 nm have been prepared.

The adsorption treatment of iron, manganese and arsenic were investigated. The nanosized β-MnO2material yielded maximum sorption capacity of 32,79 mg/g for arsenic, 36,32 mg/g for arsenat;101,37 mg/g for manganese and 107,64 mg/g for iron according to the Langmuir isotherm.

The article presents the optimum conditions in extracting the complex Zr-alizarin S inacidic HCl with butanol in hexane. The conditions of : pH ~ 1.1; ratio butanol/hexane was2/23; ratio Zr/alizarin S was 1/1, time shaking of phases was 20 minutes; and the time equilibrium of

phases was 20 minutes. These optimal conditions showed an extraction percentage (%E) complex ZralizarinSreached about 98% and distributed coefficient (D) that reached about 49. To study the effect of some salts to the extraction of complex Zr-alirazin S showed the presence of NaCl, Na2SO4 tend to decrease the extraction percentage of complex, particularly the extraction percentage decreased significantly when concentrations of NaCl were higher by 1M, and Na2SO4 were higher 0.5M.

These determined the concentration of ions Fe3+, Cu2+, Ni2+, Cr3+ after conducting extraction complex Zr-alizarin S in optimal conditions as shown above.  When the concentration of the Zr4+ was large, the error of identifying which is quite large and the determinants of Fe3+ and Cr3+ ions have larger error in determining the ion Cu2+ and Ni2+.
